Mercer Generating Station has 6 groundwater monitoring wells, 3 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between August 03, 2018 and December 06, 2018. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of cobalt, molybdenum, lithium and sulfate.
Site descriptionThe site of Mercer Generating Station, previously owned by Public Service Enterprise Group, is located near the Delaware River in Trenton, NJ. The site was sold to Hilco Redevelopment Partners in 2018, who are converting the area into a logistics park. Constructed in 1960, the plant was decommissioned in early 2018. It had two units with a combined capacity of 653 MW. The site has two inactive units regulated under the CCR rule, the North Fly Ash Pond and the South Fly Ash Pond. All CCR was removed from the site in 2016.
