Fort Armistead Road Lot 15 Landfill has 10 groundwater monitoring wells, 5 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between December 28, 2015 and September 20, 2019. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of cobalt and radium.
Site descriptionFort Armistead Road – Lot 15 Landfill is in the Curtis Bay area on the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Fort Smallwood Road and Fort Armistead Road in Baltimore, Maryland. The Site is a CCR disposal facility consisting of 65 acres including a 32-acre landfill area. The Site became operational in 2011 and is currently permitted to receive coal ash, and other compatible and approved materials, generated from three energy generating plants in the Baltimore area.
