Roy S. Nelson Plant has 14 groundwater monitoring wells, 10 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between November 18, 2015 and December 19, 2019. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of arsenic and lithium.

Site description

Entergy’s Roy S. Nelson Plant has been operational since 1982. It is located near Westlake, Louisiana in Calcasiew Parish. With one coal-fired generating unit, the plant is capable of producing 615 MW energy. The landfill located southwest of the plant is regulated under the CCR rule.
