Site descriptionKincaid Power Station is a 1,319-MW facility with two coal-fired units, previously owned and operated by Dominion Energy, Inc until it was bought by Dynegy in 2013. In 2018 Dynegy merged with Vistra Energy, who announced in 2020 that they will be closing the facility by the end of 2027. The plant was first built in 1967 in Kincaid, Illinois in Christian County, next to the Sangchris Lake. The plant has one disposal area regulated by the CCR rule, the Kincaid Ash Pond. Kincaid was one of three power plants affected in a 2013 settlement between the EPA and Dominion regarding Clean Air Act violations.
