Dolet Hills Power Station has 45 groundwater monitoring wells, 29 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between June 24, 2010 and October 09, 2019. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of lithium, sulfate, nickel, cobalt, boron, molybdenum, arsenic, radium, lead, selenium and fluoride.
Site descriptionCleco Corporation's Dolet Hills Power Station was located near Mansfield, Louisiana in DeSoto Parish. The station opened in 1986 and had one coal-fired unit with a capacity of 650-MW. Cleco retired the facility in 2021. It operates several waste disposal areas including Ash Basin No. 2, Ash Basin No.1, Landfill Surface Impoundment and Fly Ash/Scrubber Sludge Landfill. All areas except for the Landfill Surface Impoundment are regulated under the CCR rule. The Dolet Hill Power Station is listed among the U.S. EPA's potential damage cases, indicating that it has polluted groundwater or surface water at levels which threaten human health and the environment.
